Our inaugural product, Freelance Accelerator, a comprehensive freelancing course, has launched! The course aims to take new and prospective freelancers, regardless of craft experience or knowledge, and teach them all of the ins and outs they need to get started as a freelancer.
A number of reasons led to my decision to develop this course:
I Realized I had a Unique Insight
Certainly, being a successful freelancer for almost a decade helps me offer guidance to other freelancers. But my unique experience as a recruiter is the source of much of my knowledge and insight into client decision making processes- something enormously helpful to understand when constructing a sales funnel.
I’ve never been known to be particularly humble, but I didn’t realize how exceptional my experience was for quite some time. It finally hit home when an experienced freelance friend asked a question about a work situation and the answer was so abundantly clear to me as a contract issue that I finally realized what an unusual asset my experience was.
I Kept Seeing Bad Advice
Not that long ago I saw a facebook ad that claimed there were hundreds of thousands or even millions of talented video crew who were offering their services for free. I’ve been in video for over a decade and recruited talent from all over the country… but I didn’t need that level of experience to know that this was a huge, steaming load.
There is no shortage of people willing to share advice, but those shouting the loudest are often the wrongest.
I Felt Something Was Missing with the Existing Courses
What I’ve created is not uncharted territory. Other people have created freelance courses. But I found few that were comprehensive- courses that covered all aspects of freelancing, and even fewer that were geared towards freelancing newbies. I had done enough live presentations to know there was a need for such a product.
I’m confident that you’ll find plenty of actionable take-aways from Freelance Accelerator, but I’m eager to hear your feedback!
